VERMICULTURE IN SAN ISIDRO

Mayor Apolinar Gumanid explains to visitors how organic soil is produced through vermiculture. The Municipal LGU has purchased a Php 350,000 shredder to speed up the process. San Isidro is the first municipality in the province to declare itself as organic farming area. The Bohol Local Development Foundation (BLDF) is committed to assist the municipality increase the number of barangays and farmers adopting organic agriculture methodologies despite the phaseout of donor assistance under the Poverty Reduction through Organic Farming Systems (PRoFarms) project funded by the Philippines-Australia Community Assistance Program (PACAP). The municipality intends to organize the Federation of Organic Farmers Association within the year.
