SAN ISIDRO ORGANIC FARM
SAN ISIDRO ORGANIC FARM: The San Isidro LGU has officially declared itself as Bohol’s organic agriculture municipality under the administration of Mayor Apolinar Gumanid, Jr. with the resolution for an ordinance approved by the Sangguniang Bayan. Farmers from neighboring towns flock to the 1.4 ha. demonstration farm on natural farming established by the LGU with technical assistance from the Poverty Reduction through Organic Farming Systems (ProFarms) project implemented by the Bohol Local Development Foundation (BLDF) and Community Awareness and Services for Ecological Concerns (CASEC) under the Philippines-Australia Community Assistance Program (PACAP). Photo shows Dodong Formentera, ProFarms community organizer, a bountiful harvest of upland kangkong to Melchor Antiola (left), president of the San Isidro Farmers Association, and Eddie Gatillo, backyard farmer from Laya, Baclayon. Upland kangkong is one of the crops promoted both for human consumption and as livestock feed by the project.
