Focus on Micro-Enterprises

FOCUS ON MICRO ENTERPRISES. Consistent with the provincial development thrust to make eco-cultural tourism as the driver for sustainable livelihood, local communities and households have opened small shops in tour destination sites to sell handicrafts and other souvenir items. Photo shows one such store in Sta. Filomena, Alburquerque just across the giant phyton attraction in the barangay. Bohol Local Development Foundation ( BLDF) supports similar initiatives in other communities through its Social Enterprise Development Project through a loan from the Peace and Equity Foundation administered by the Bol-anon United Sectors Working for Advancement of Community Concerns (BUSWACC), Inc. These small enterprises bring the benefits of tourism directly to families and enable them to harness existing skills and local resources to create marketable products with technical assistance from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and funding support from LGUs. #####
